Springer, New Mexico

Springer is located in Northeastern New Mexico about 35 miles south of Raton on I-25.  It is home to 1262 residents.  Colfax County has about 12,925 people.  The elevation is 5857 feet above sea level which gives Springer its pleasant climate.  Warm summer days are followed by cool nights.  Winters are moderate.  Annual precipitation averages 16 inches.  Relative humidity is low. 

The Santa Fe Trail Museum is now housed in the former Colfax County Court House.  It is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. 

Springer is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, history buffs and fans of the Old West.  Springer Lake features some of the finest fishing in Northern New Mexico.  Our location is perfect for day trips to surrounding points of interest such as Fort Union National Monument, The NRA Whittington Center, Philmont Scout Ranch, The Dorsey Mansion, Capulin Volcano, Eagle Nest Lake, Sugarite State Park.  As the Gateway to the Enchanted Circle, Springer provides easy access to three of New Mexico's finest ski facilities:  Taos Ski Valley, Angel Fire and Red River.

Springer has two antique shops, a gift shop, a hotel, one motel, two RV parks, five restaurants, a carry out pizza shop, five gas stations and convenience stores, a branch of Wells Fargo Bank, a branch of International Bank, a lumber yard, a barber shop, several beauty shops, a hardware store, a laundromat, a car wash, a feed stare, a Ford dealership, a bi-weekly newspaper, a high school, an elementary school, three parks, a county magistrate court, a library, a volunteer EMT service and fire department, two medical clinics, a long term care facility, two insurance agencies, a floral service, fraternal organizations: American Legion, Salvation Army, 4H, Silverspur Cowbells, Lions Club, Kiwanis Club, a senior citizen center, a grocery store, a drug store, eight churches, a package liquor store, a print shop, Springer School, Luna Vo-Tech, a main distribution center for UPS, Army National Guard, an airport, a New Mexico Boy's School and a Chamber of Commerce.

We have a major event during the year:  The Colfax County Fair and Rodeo. 

The Chamber of Commerce is very active and eager to assist any business in the search for economic opportunity.  Springer has much to offer and the best part is it's people.
