Springer is located in Northeastern New Mexico about 35 miles south of Raton on I-25. It is home to 1262 residents. Colfax County has about 12,925 people. The elevation is 5857 feet above sea level which gives Springer its pleasant climate. Warm summer days are followed by cool nights. Winters are moderate. Annual precipitation averages 16 inches. Relative humidity is low.
The Santa Fe Trail Museum is now housed in the former Colfax County Court House. It is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

As the Gateway to the Enchanted Circle, Springer provides easy access to three of New Mexico's finest ski facilities: Taos Ski Valley, Angel Fire and Red River.
